The BioMETrCS  (Biostatistics, Methods and Ethics in Translational and Clinical Studies) program is prepared to provide all investigators ready access to “STAT” research methods help; clarify and address methods needs of each investigator; and match investigators with methods experts as needed.  BioMETrCS is co-directed by Ardythe Morrow, PhD, and Christopher Lindsell, PhD.  They are experienced at coordinating a broad array of interdisciplinary clinical and translational research projects, applying methodological and ethical principles to complex research problems, and training junior faculty, fellows, residents, and undergraduate students at all research skill levels.  Click here for an overview of BioMETrCS faculty .

BioMETrCS services for investigators include:

  • Assisting with peer review of a manuscript
  • Reviewing IRB protocols
  • Advising on research designs, including project implementation and data collection methods
  • Providing guidance on appropriate statistical methods for individual situations
  • Calculating power analyses for usual designs
  • Creating appropriate figures and tables
  • Analyzing existing datasets
  • Creating randomization plans
  • Developing data safety and monitoring plans
  • Replying to manuscript reviewers’ concerns about statistical analysis
  • Responding to IRB concerns about study design, analysis plan, or human subjects protections
  • Ad hoc teaching
  • Participating on data safety and monitoring boards
  • Creating data collection instruments, including surveys and questionnaires
  • Providing methods and/or statistical support to defined research projects
  • Developing new statistical methods for studies with unusual or difficult designs
  • Providing consultation on clinical research ethics
