Director of VA Clinical Research Unit Named
Jack Rubinstein, MD, associate professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Health and Disease, UC College of Medicine, has been named director of the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) at Cincinnati Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. A clinical cardiologist with a focus on echocardiography, Rubinstein runs a translational cardiovascular laboratory funded by the National Institutes of Health and American Heart Association, and also serves as director of the Clinical Scientist Training Program.
The CRU was established in 2004 as a joint venture between the Cincinnati VA, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and UC College of Medicine to provide a research location for adult patients with complex medical or psychiatric disorders that could not be studied in CCHMC or UC clinical trials sites. The facility also supports research protocols specific to the VA mission. Affiliated with the CCTST, the intent of the VA CRU is to extend and complement current clinical research resources and to expand human research already existing at the VA, CCMHC and UC. For more information about the CRU, contact nurse coordinator Colleen Rogge.
